New York whitewater, Boquet River

Essex county, Northway to Boquet section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-IV     16.6 miles
The wonderful Essex County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Northway to Boquet stretch of Boquet River is 16.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving.
No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in
advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The starting point is not too far from Plattsburgh, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Northway to Boquet section
is just one of them. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience.

Briefly about the general area:
Kingsland Bay State Park is a glorious spot to pop by on a beautiful day, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Westport here. Yeah, come up here to the Adirondack Mountains for a great time. Going to Button Bay Camel's Hump State Park right next door to Boquet River is a splendid thing to do; close by you come across the Rocky Peak Ridge-Route 9N - East Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. This river has so much to offer. High temperatures at Boquet River during the warm days of summer are in the 70's.
