This stretch of Boquet River in Essex County is 22.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V section of whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Plattsburgh, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
