This section of The Branch is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great     experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Essex County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Along State Route 9N Alder Brook R stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
