The Boreas Road to Palmer Pond stretch of The Branch in New York is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The wonderful New York scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if     you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. When you're paddling down a Adirondack Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
