If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The natural beauty of New York and the water flowing gracefully down Bush Kill River will make you feel great. The campgrounds here at Bush Kill River are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or
both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This is the only paddling section along Bush Kill River. The beautiful Catskill Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The Lake Switzerland Dam to Dry Brook stretch of Bush Kill River in Greene/ Delaware County
is 5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip.
Briefly about the general area: The annual precipitation here at Bush Kill River is about average; most of the rain falls during May while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Just can't get enough of the Catskill Mountains. Castle Hollow is a magnificent site to
take a look at close by, and Belleayre is a good local ski area. At Bush Kill River during the summertime months highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Bush Kill River.
