  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from East Stroudsburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Sullivan County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Route 52 bridge to confluence with North Br. Callicoon
    section is one of them. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There's
camping available near Callicoon Creek - East Branch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The Route 52 bridge to confluence with North Br. Callicoon stretch of Callicoon Creek - East Branch in New York is 10 miles  
long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
Everybody loves Lake Superior State Park, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Schiff Trail. Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River is a great national park; you'll meet a lot of folks from Callicoon here. This river is a great place to visit. All the water falling down from the sky makes Callicoon Creek - East Branch a wet place.
