This section of Canaseraga Creek in New York is 8 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Corning, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Steuben/Livingston/Alleghany County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty
small number of paddling places. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Canaseraga Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Canaseraga to Dansville
stretch is the only one. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable.
