The beautiful scenery of Tompkins County and the water flowing gracefully down Cascadilla Creek have people coming here. This section of Cascadilla Creek in New York is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Cascadilla Creek are pretty good. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Collegetown to Ithaca     section is the only paddling section along Cascadilla Creek. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Briefly about the general area: During your spree to Cascadilla Creek you'll meet some people from Ithaca for sure, and Ithaca Falls is a great local attraction. Don't forget to pop by Willow Point since you're here at Cascadilla Creek. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Cascadilla Creek. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and during   the dark hours in the winter at Cascadilla Creek temperatures plunge to the 10's.
