  This section of Catskill Creek in Albany/Greene County is 17 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Kingston it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Cooksburg to Woodstock Dam stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river
    system. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,
but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Albany/Greene County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that.

Through the months of summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Catskill
 
Creek. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Catskill Creek temperatures descend to the 0's. The yearly rainfall here at Catskill Creek is about average; the wettest month of the year is typically May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is February.
