Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Cooksburg to Woodstock Dam stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river     system. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Albany/Greene County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
