If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section of Catskill Creek is 5.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. The wonderful New York scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and
if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are plenty of other stretches in
this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting location is a short drive from Kingston, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There's camping available near Catskill Creek. The wild scenery of the Catskill Mountains is great. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.
