There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whitewater     rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hudson, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. Briefly about the general area: A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Catskill Creek; most of the rain falls through May, and February on the other hand is the driest. Through the months of summer at Catskill Creek highs are mostly in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's.
