This section of Cedar River in Hamilton/Essex County is 18 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If     you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Sprague Brook to Hudson River section is one of them. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful.
