If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The West Harpersfield section is the only paddling section along Center     Brook/Middle Brook. The put-in is not too far from Oneonta. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The West Harpersfield stretch of Center Brook/Middle Brook in New York is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful Catskill Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: Center Brook/Middle Brook gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the   least amount of precipitation. Ski Plattekill has great slopes and a friendly staff. All through the warm months at Center Brook/Middle Brook highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Center Brook/Middle Brook.
