The starting point is not too far from Oneonta. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The beautiful     Catskill Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The beautiful scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The West Harpersfield section is the only paddling section along Center Brook/Middle Brook. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the summer at Center Brook/Middle Brook temperatures are generally in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows through   the winter for Center Brook/Middle Brook tend to be in the 10's. Gotta ski! Ski Plattekill is a wonderful site to do that.
