The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Center Brook/Middle Brook doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the West Harpersfield section is the only one. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. The West Harpersfield section of Center Brook/Middle Brook in Delaware County is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The campgrounds here at Center Brook/Middle Brook are pretty good. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The put-in location is a short drive from Oneonta. Briefly about the general area: At Center Brook/Middle Brook all through the summer months highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.   Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Center Brook/Middle Brook. A normal amount of rain falls here at Center Brook/Middle Brook; during the month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. Skiing at Ski Plattekill is one of those things you just must do.
