If you're coming from Jamestown-Dunkirk-Fredonia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location. The Lyons Road to Lake Erie stretch of Chautauqua Creek in Chatauqua County is 14.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging,     so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. This is the only paddling stretch along Chautauqua Creek. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that.
