Says River Walker This section of Cincinnati Creek is 4.5 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Utica-Rome it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Oneida County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting     and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at Cincinnati Creek are pretty good. Cincinnati Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Remsen to Barneveld stretch is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
