The Route 44/55 and downstream stretch of Coxing Kill River in Ulster County is 2.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V+) section. The nature scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The beautiful Adirondack Mountains scenery is an added bonus. here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Coxing Kill River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 44/55 and downstream stretch is the only one. This is a bit of a short stretch so
| you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
