This stretch of Deer River in Lewis County is 12.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. There's camping available near Deer River. High temperatures at Deer River through the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's.
