The beautiful scenery of Essex / Warren County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping |

in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There are no other sections to paddle along Deer River than the Fourteenth

Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime at Deer River highs are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Deer River. A normal amount of rain falls here at Deer River; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is February.
