Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You can enjoy this section more if     you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The trees of Franklin State Forest are a great source of shade on hot summer days; you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Malone here.
