New York whitewater - Doig Creek, Adirondack Mountains, Hamilton County
Hamilton
county,
Pumpkin Hollow Road to Sacandaga River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III+(IV) 3 miles
The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a
very popular destination. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Gloversville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging
out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch of Doig Creek is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. The Pumpkin Hollow Road to Sacandaga River section is the only paddling section along Doig Creek. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
