Dunning Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Gilmantown Road to Sacandaga River section is the only one. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains is a great plus for this river. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to
| be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of precipitation makes Dunning Creek a relatively wet spot; during May this area sees the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Dunning Creek. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 30's, and night lows during the wintertime for Dunning Creek tend to be in the 10's.
