CLASS I-III     8 miles
  This stretch of East Canada Creek is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of New York and the water flowing gracefully down East Canada Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and spending
    some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The put-in location is a short drive from Amsterdam, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too.

popular thing to do around East Canada Creek; California Trail is a great local trail. Here at East Canada Creek there are plenty of folks from Dolgeville, and visiting Glimmerglass State Park is a tremendous thing to do. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at East Canada Creek; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at East Canada Creek are in the 0's. From a precipitation point of view East Canada Creek is a relatively common place.
