The wonderful New York scenery and the water flowing gracefully down East Kill River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in location is a short drive from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The campgrounds here at East Kill River are pretty good. This
stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. This section of East Kill River in Greene County is 5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. This is the only paddling section along East Kill River. A good workout and spending some
quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. When you're paddling down a Catskill Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

at East Kill River are in the 0's. Hiking along the Spruceton Trail is nice fun, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Windham Mountain. East Kill River is a good site of typical rain; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Catskill Mountains.
