The wonderful Greene County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The Route 296 bridge to Jewett Center section of East Kill River in New York is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The Route 296 bridge to Jewett Center section is the only paddling section along East Kill River. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking
you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and
some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
