  The Route 296 bridge to Jewett Center section of East Kill River in Greene County is 5 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Kingston it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are no other stretches to paddle along East Kill River than the Route 296 bridge to Jewett Center stretch. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains
    is a great plus for this river. There's camping available near East Kill River. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the
national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The nature scenery of New York and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip.
