The Tenant Creek to Old State Highway stretch of East Stony Creek in Warren/ Hamilton County is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-V section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Gloversville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Warren/ Hamilton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer
whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience.
