If you're coming from Buffalo-Cheektowaga-Tonawanda it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Hamburg to Lake stretch of Eighteenmile Creek is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V section of whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend     some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The wonderful New York scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling stretch along Eighteenmile Creek. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
