This section of Esopus Creek in New York is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV(V) section of whitewater. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come.
When you're paddling down a Catskill Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
