The starting location is a reasonable drive from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Catskill Mountains     scenery is wonderful. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of Ulster County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
