New York whitewater - Flint Creek, Monroe County Monroe county, Phelps Run section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III+(IV)     3 miles   The Phelps Run stretch of Flint Creek is 3 miles long and is a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The starting point is not too far from Seneca Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. Flint Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Phelps Run section is the only one. A bit of exercise and spending     some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The wonderful Monroe County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good places for that around here. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Flint Creek throughout the warm months are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are usually   in the 30's; nighttime lows at Flint Creek through the winter typically plunge into the 10's. Flint Creek is a good location of typical precipitation; September is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is February.
