New York whitewater - Flint Creek, Monroe County Monroe county, Phelps Run section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III+(IV)     3 miles   The Phelps Run section of Flint Creek in New York is 3 miles long and is a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Seneca Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. Flint Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Phelps Run section is the only one. The wonderful New York scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Flint Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in     this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime months highs here at Flint Creek reach the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter highs are commonly in the 30's, and overnight lows at   Flint Creek throughout the winter ordinarily plunge into the 10's. Flint Creek is a good place of common rain; the wettest month of the year is regularly September, that's the one that rains the most while February is regularly the driest month.
