The natural beauty of Albany/ Schoharie County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The campgrounds here at Fox Creek are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are no other sections to paddle along Fox Creek than the West Bern to Vrooman Corners section. If you're coming     from Amsterdam it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.
