  The wonderful New York scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Genesee River attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're coming from Batavia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, suitable for
    an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Lee's Landing to St. Helena section is the only paddling section along Genesee River.
The Lee's Landing to St. Helena section of Genesee River in Wyoming/Livingston County is 4.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that.

Briefly about the general area:
Through the summer at Genesee River highs are ordinarily in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's while Genesee River nighttime low temperatures all through the
 
wintertime are in the 10's.
Genesee River gets a normal amount of rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest.
