The wonderful New York scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Gloversville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Georgia Brook is 0.3 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The Along trail to Route 8 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Georgia Brook. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many
of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: There is a nice hiking trail near Georgia Brook called the Oregon Trail. A
normal amount of rainfall falls here at Georgia Brook; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February. High temperatures at Georgia Brook through the warm months are in the 70's, and the night is quite cooler of course, ordinarily in the 50's.
High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Georgia Brook temperatures descend to the 0's.
