The starting location is a short drive from Ogdensburg-Massena, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Lampsons Falls to Russell section is just one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The wonderful New York scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A bit of exercise     and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Briefly about the general area: A forest close to Grass River is Donnerville State Forest, and people from Ogdensburg-Massena love to come here. From a rainfall point of view Grass River is a reasonably common place; during the month of August you get the most rain around here   while February is ordinarily the driest month. All through the days of summer at Grass River highs are typically in the 70's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Grass River.
