The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're coming from Ogdensburg-Massena it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Grass River - Middle Branch in New York is 13.5     miles long and is a class II-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too.
