This stretch of Grass River - North Branch in St. Lawrence County is 6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This river system is     full of great paddling sections, the Clare Road to Grass River section is just one of them. The campgrounds here at Grass River - North Branch are pretty good. The nature scenery of St. Lawrence County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Ogdensburg-Massena, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: next to Grass River - North Branch you'll hit upon a wooded neighborhood called Donnerville State Forest, and Lampsons Falls is a glorious local attraction.
