If you're coming from Plattsburgh it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater

For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Great Chazy River is 5 miles long and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
