The Chazy Lake to Miner Lake stretch of Great Chazy River in Clinton County is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater. If you're coming from Plattsburgh it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. When you're paddling down a Adirondack Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are a few other stretches in this
river system that can be paddled as well. The campgrounds here at Great Chazy River are pretty good. The scenic beauty of Clinton County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
