If you're coming from Plattsburgh it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Miner Lake to Mooers section of Great Chazy River is 11 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. For all you camping
people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.
