This section of Hoosic River in Rensselaer County is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this     state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Schaghticoke Dam to Powerhouse section is the only paddling section along Hoosic River. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The natural beauty of Rensselaer County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
