This stretch of Hudson River in New York is 6.4 miles long and is a class I-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Saratoga/Warren County and the water flowing gracefully down Hudson River make the trip here worthwhile. The starting location is a short drive from Glens Falls, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often
tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Sherman Island to Feeder Dam section is just one of them. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Summer at Hudson River comes with high temperatures in the 70's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Hudson River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Hudson River commonly gets lots of precipitation;
the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is February. West Mountain has great slopes and a friendly staff; Haviland Cove Beach is a beautiful beach to have a look at.
