Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of New York and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other stretches
to paddle along Indian River than the Brooktrout Lake to South Branch Moose stretch. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The campgrounds here at Indian River are pretty good.
Briefly about the general area: Indian River gets a large amount of water; August is the wettest month with most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Indian River through the warm months are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and night lows at Indian River during the wintertime generally sink into the 0's.
