New York whitewater - Jordan River, Adirondack Mountains, St Lawrence County St Lawrence county, 1.5 miles above mouth to mouth section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-V     1.5 miles   This stretch of Jordan River in New York is 1.5 miles long and is a class II-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful St Lawrence County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The 1.5 miles above mouth to mouth stretch is the only paddling stretch along Jordan River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in     this state are not easy. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. If you're coming from Malone it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: The annual rainfall here at Jordan River is about average; the wettest month   of the year is regularly August, that's the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. Throughout the summer months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Jordan River with nighttime lows in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Jordan River temperatures fall to the 0's.
