New York whitewater - Jordan River, Adirondack Mountains, St Lawrence County St Lawrence county, 1.5 miles above mouth to mouth section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-V     1.5 miles   The 1.5 miles above mouth to mouth stretch of Jordan River is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of St Lawrence County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting point is not too far from Malone, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty short section so better bring some     good walking shoes. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are no other stretches to paddle along Jordan River than the 1.5 miles above mouth to mouth stretch. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Briefly about the general area: The yearly precipitation here at Jordan River is about average; the month   with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the long summer days at Jordan River temperatures are frequently in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Jordan River dip into the 0's.
