The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hudson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The High Falls to Catskill Creek stretch     of Kaaterskill Creek is 12 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. The campgrounds here at Kaaterskill Creek are pretty good. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This is the only paddling stretch along Kaaterskill Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable.
