The Tuscarora to Sonyea section of Keshegua Creek in New York is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There's camping available near Keshegua
Creek. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Rochester, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No need to look hard for hotels, but if
you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Keshegua Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Tuscarora to Sonyea section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Through the long summer days highs here at Keshegua Creek reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Keshegua Creek are in the 10's. Nearby Wildcat Gully is a good spot to go if you're at Keshegua Creek. Keshegua Creek gets a typical amount of rain; most of the rain falls during June, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
