The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oneonta, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The     campgrounds here at Kortright Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The beautiful Catskill Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are no other stretches to paddle along Kortright Creek than the Route 10 bridge to Charlotte Creek stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Kortright Creek in Delaware County is 3.3 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months here at   Kortright Creek, high temperatures usually reach the 80's with night lows in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 30's; nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Kortright Creek tend to be in the 10's. From a precipitation point of view Kortright Creek is a rather normal spot; through June this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
