The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Route 10 bridge to Charlotte Creek stretch of Kortright Creek in New York is 3.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. There are no other stretches to paddle along Kortright Creek than the Route 10 bridge to Charlotte Creek stretch. The wonderful Delaware County scenery and the sparkling of
the sunlight on the water beats anything. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you get great scenery. This stretch is short so you'll have to
walk back to the start over and over. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Oneonta, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.

Creek highs are usually in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's; overnight lows throughout the winter for Kortright Creek tend to be in the 10's.
