If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Glens Falls, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wonderful Essex County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular
destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The Lake George to Lake Champlain stretch of La Chute River in New York is 3.5 miles
long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V+ section of whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Lake George to Lake Champlain stretch is the only paddling stretch along La Chute River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks.
