The put-in location is a short drive from Malone, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Little Trout River is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. The campgrounds here at Little Trout River are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater     rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is the only paddling section along Little Trout River. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The wonderful New York scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Little Trout River make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the summer at Little Trout River highs are regularly in the 70's, and the night is quite chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the   20's while the cold winter nights at Little Trout River are in the 0's. The high level of rain makes Little Trout River a reasonably wet location; the wettest month of the year is typically August, that's the one that rains the most; February is the month with the least moisture.
