New York whitewater - Little Woodhull Creek, Adirondack Mountains, Herkimer/ Oneida County Herkimer/ Oneida county, Stone Dam Trail to Kincaid Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.     The starting location is a reasonable drive from Utica-Rome, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Herkimer/ Oneida County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with     plenty of places for that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Stone Dam Trail to Kincaid Road section is one of them. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. Briefly about the general area: At Little Woodhull Creek during the warm months highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are typically in the 20's, and during   the dark hours in the winter at Little Woodhull Creek temperatures plunge to the 0's. Little Woodhull Creek mostly gets a lot of rain; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here, and February on the other hand is the driest.
