  The Route 374 to Cooks Mill section of Marble River is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Franklin County and the water flowing gracefully down Marble River will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that quite
    a few of the sections here are not easy. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you're coming from Malone it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please
print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Route 374 to Cooks Mill section is the only paddling section along Marble River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places.

Briefly about the general area:
Throughout the long summer days here at Marble River, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and
 
after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Marble River drop into the 0's. A large amount of rainfall falls at Marble River; the month with most of the rain is August; February is when it's the driest.
A good place to go to right next door to Marble River is Chateaugay Chasm.
