  The Route 374 to Cooks Mill section of Marble River in Franklin County is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-V+ section. The beautiful scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here
    are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Malone, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There's camping available near Marble River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.

the general area:
Chateaugay Chasm is close to Marble River and is a perfect location; Titus Mountain is a good local ski area. The cheerful people of Chateaugay like to hang out nearby. Through the warm days of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Marble River, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while Marble River night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. Marble River is a wet place that gets much precipitation. All through August this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is February.
