The beautiful scenery of Washington County and the water flowing gracefully down Mettawee River beats anything. This section of Mettawee River in Washington County is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-V section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Mettawee River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you hurry you can run this
stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. The campgrounds here at Mettawee River are pretty good. The starting point is not too far from Glens Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in
this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
