The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The beautiful scenery of New York and the water flowing gracefully down Mill Creek make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Glens Falls it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Hudson River stretch of Mill Creek is 5 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Johnsburg above Wevertown to Hudson River section is the only paddling section along Mill Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Mill Creek are in the 0's. Mill Creek gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
