This section of Mill Creek in New York is 4 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful New York scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Watertown-Fort Drum, please print out a copy
of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Mill Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the West Lowville to Lowville section is the
only one. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
