The Cohoes Wave section of Mohawk River is 0 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Albany-Schenectady-Troy, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This is a very short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Some people
prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Cohoes Wave stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river
system. The campgrounds here at Mohawk River are pretty good. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
